Bettie Page Style
Named as the queen of pin up girls in the 1950's, Bettie Mae Page with her trademark raven black hair, blue eyes, and bangs became an inspiration to photographers and artists world wide. Bettie first started modeling and acting in the late 1940's and early 1950's, but when she posed as a playmate of the month in playboy magazine in 1955, she reached iconic status. Yet Bettie Page was more than a model, she influenced fashion with her mix of dominatrix and coquettish outfits. Even today there is now a clothing company, Bettie Page Clothing, that seeks to make clothing that replicates her famous style.
Not only did she influence fashion, but she also influenced sexuality by embracing her own sex appeal. She was one of the first women to accept her naughty and nice persona and show other women that it was alright for women to define their own sexuality. Thus, this is why Bettie page remains a beloved icon of the past and why her style is still sought after to this day.
